Poor management and communication. Negative: Both booking.com customer service and I wrote to contact Takehani Lodge management regarding extra fees that were not visible / showing at the time of booking, that were then later added. An attempt was made (and declined by my bank) to deduct a higher amount than what we agreed to pay through booking.com. I was told that mandatory taxes were not included plus a $180 AUD cleaning fee! For 2 nights. All the charges should have been visible at the time of booking, or even better - included in the total price, but they were not. All our other bookings showed total prices - no problem. Booking.com customer service said that they advise accommodation management to list a total price but some choose not to. We find this misleading. We tried to contact this property but no response was given. We asked for free cancellation which to this date we have not been given. At the time of our booking there was no offer no free cancellation, so because they add undisclosed additional costs after we booked, we were given no choice but to pay it or loose all the money we agreed to pay for the accommodation alone. Dishonest practice and we are still waiting for a reply 1 week later.

Bad choice. Positive: Location. Negative: So many things. I chose it for its southern view for star gazing. An all night floodlight at the shore meant zero star gazing from dusk to dawn. Two bicycles to use, but no helmets. Four kayaks, no life jackets. No screens on any windows or doors, so no breeze, yet told to turn off ac whenever I left. Do always returned to hot, stifling room. It is one room with attached bath. The “kitchen “ is a sink and a one-burner hot plate. No bedside lamp, only a harsh, bright overhead light with seton opposite wall . Impossible to read will in bed, blinded by that light
